Exercise 1:
Blood concentrations of hormone A (ng/mL) before and after a small amount of food intake were measured in 9 healthy subjects. Analyze whether the food intake influences blood hormone A concentration.
(52, 60), (58, 52), (76, 78), (56, 70), (24, 66), (60, 75), (68, 77), (32, 54), (74, 69)

Exercise 2:
Two anti-allergy agents (A, B) were administered to 17 atopic dermatitis patients for 4 weeks using a random crossover study. In order to assess drug efficacy, the disease state of atopic dermatitis was scored based on symptoms, ointment types, and frequencies of ointment treatment, and total scores at 4 weeks after the treatments of 2 drugs were compared. Analyze whether the treatment effects of the 2 drugs have a statistical difference.

Comparative Verification Test
Wilcoxon signed-ranks test: StatFinale <0.05, SPSS 0.017, EZR 0.0178
StatFinale uses signed rank tables and does not provide precise P values for small numbers of cases.
Reports of SPSS & EZR
Data with a difference of 0 are automatically deleted. It seems that there is a formula for a few cases rather than test tables. There is a slight difference between SPSS and EZR, but this is likely because SPSS did not perform a continuity correction (the “-0.5” in the numerator of the Z-score).
